Minutes of October 12, 2011

We had 23 members and 2 guests; Arnold Solomon and Alan Zucker. At 8:10 Sergeant-at-Arms Martin Hochhauser called on club President Dan Ashley who, in turn, called on Vice President John Weisman to read the second letter of  recommendation for the membership of Alan Zucker. Alan is Vice President for Operations at Temple Beth-El (No, Alan is not a moyel). And was an IBMer for 27 years. The fact he would join THIS organization makes him somewhat suspect, however.

Paul Rashba rose to announce that that club member Ian Tsukroff is a new father - having welcomed a new baby girl into the world. Lew Sims is a new grandfather (again) - also blessed with a baby girl (Zoey Eva). Mazel Tov to both! Gene

Glanzberg announced that 21 couples had signed up so far for the October 29th Fall Gala at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. Our minimum is 25 couples he said. Please send in checks and responses ASAP he urged!

Gene also raised a question for Dick Schwed to answer vis-a-vis the club's financial investments. Dick replied that, despite the poor state of economy, as of the end of the last quarter (September. 30th), the club's investments were slightly ahead of last year. There was no speaker that evening.
