Harding Club est. 1923

(2013 Was Our 90th Anniversary!)

Our charter: A Jewish men's social club dedicated to camaraderie, good food and dynamic speakers

The Harding Club: since 1923, a Jewish social club for men interested in Camaraderie, Community, Philanthropy and Jewish Culture

Many Harding Club members are enjoying warm weather in

Poughkeepsie.

Others are enjoying weather a slight bit warmer in

southern climes such as Florida and Arizona.

Because of the large number of members who have gone

south for slightly better weather, our Poughkeepsie

stalwarts are too few in number to justify a February

meeting.

Therefore, there will be no meeting on February 17 as

originally planned.

The Chinese Dinner scheduled for that date will hopefully

be rescheduled.

Stay tuned!!

A highlight of the year happened on December 9, when

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro spoke at our

meeting.

The meeting took place at the Hyde Park Cappola's Italian

restaurant.  A feast of fine Italian food was followed by a

special talk in which a very busy County Executive spoke on

a wide variety of topics affecting every county resident.

He reported that economic growth in the county is on the

upswing, and he claimed, with no bias, that his policies are

largely responsible for that growth.

HERE'S A RUNDOWN OF SOME RECENT EVENTS:

Elaine Hayes, Executive Director of the

Mount Gulian Historic Site,

spoke at the September 30, 2015 meeting.

The site has been in use since the Revolutionary War.

All were thrilled to see Martin dressed in a uniform from

the era, wielding a musket!!

The October 15, 2015 meeting, held at the Italian Center,

featured Dr. Alison Nohara, a neurosurgeon  from

Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

In a popular husband and wife event, she spoke on

new procedures to treat stroke patients.

Rabbi Eliazar Langer of the Congregtion Schomre Israel

gave the club an inspiring presentation at the

September 9, 2015, meeting, which was held at the

Milanese.

At the November 4, 2015, meeting,

Julie and David Gorlewski,

Professors of Education at

SUNY New Paltz, discussed the Common

Core controversy. Their talk was

titled,"Knowledge,Standards, and

Standardization:

Complicating the Common Core."

A very lively discussion about this

very relevant topic followed their

talk.

On November 18, member Les Muldodrf

spoke about Jewish traditions

concerning  Chevra Kaddisha.
