June 10 there is no speaker scheduled, so be there with

extra doses of schmooze-worthy conversation.

The speaker at our March 25 meeting was Rabbi Rena

Blumenthal, formerly of Vassar College.

She provided a unique and inspired interpretation of the

upcoming Passover holiday.

It was enjoyed by all.

It was a Husband/wife event.

Our March meeting featured Robert Friedberg, President of Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  Club members and many wives were treated to good food and schmooze as well as an informative presentation by Dr. Friedberg.

Mr. Friedberg spoke at length about working to ensure that VBMC succeeds both at providing our community with the very best medical care available anywhere and at doing it at the lowest cost possible.

He noted a recent case at the hospital where a new service, Interventional Wire Neurology, was used to remove a blood clot from a patient's brain after suffering a stroke.  Within hours of the attack, the patient was doing email, her blood flow restored.

Pictures of a new building, providing nearly 300 beds in private rooms, were shown.  Construction will begin soon, it is hoped.  Dr. Friedberg pointed out that the current circular design is outdated and inefficient.  Furthermore, no one wants a roommate!

It was a most interesting and informative presentation.

The Chinese New Year dinner, held on February 11,
was a great success.
Everyone who attended left the Jade Palace Restaurant
stuffed with mountains of Chinese food
and plenty of leftovers to take home.

Last year was highlighted by a wonderful fall

weekend at Mt. Airie Lodge in the Poconos

to celebrate the club's 90th anniversary.

Speaker highlights included speakers from

the Walkway Over the Hudson, Brian Giorgis

who is the Head Women's Basketball coach

at Marist, and Assemblywoman Didi Barrett.

Congratulations to Lew Sims for his

ascendency to the helm of the club.

Rabbi Brent Spodek of the Beacon Hebrew Alliance

gave the club an inspiring presentation at the

September 10, 2014, meeting which was held at the Milanese.

On October 1, 2014 the Club sailed on the

Hudson River.  Here's Martin Hochhauser's

report on that successful and fun event:

The boat ride down the Hudson on a real

paddle-wheeler was smooth and

enjoyable! Many of the club members

schmoozed together, with wives also

enjoying the sights along the way. A

fabulous buffet was also served beginning

with hors d'oeuvres and followed by

delicious desserts and coffee.
