The May 25 meeting featured a presentation
by Poughkeepsie's new mayor,
Rob Rolison. He was very interesting
and informative about his focus on
improving the city.
After the presentation, new officers were selected.
A four headed monster will rotate as president
this year. They are all past presidents:
Accepting the role as Vice President is
Secretary: Peter Albenda
Treasurer: Bernie Cohen
Sergeant at Arms: Marty Hochhauser
Steward: Larry Rosenberg
An elite group of members will make up the
Board of Governors.
On May 11, HC member Alan Fox and his friend
and fellow traveler, Randy Ross,
showed pictures and spoke about
their recent trip to CUBA.
Rich Levine and the Speakers Committee
recently met to plan next year's programs.
A new approach (possibly some daytime
programs) was discussed and
may be implemented.
No one wants the summer to end,
but it is time to look forward
to next fall's programming.
The April 13 meeting of the Harding Club
featured a speaker from Zounds who
spoke on the topic of
Hearing Pathology and hearing aids.
An animated and interesting discussion
transpired and was enjoyed by all.
On March 30, 2016, the Harding Club met at the
Italian Center in Poughkeepsie.
As usual, the food, drink and socialization was

Program Officer for the PJ Library.
The PJ Library provides free children's books on
Jewish topics to families, locally, nationally and worldwide.
As a result of this presentation, and after much
discussion, the Harding Club
voted to contribute $10,000 annually, for the next
three years, as a partner with the Federation, to this very
On March 9 he group was treated to an extremely
insightful presentation by Bruce Judson
on the causes and problems of the unprecedented
disparities in income distribution in the U.S. today.
Bruce pointed out very clearly that the frustration felt
today, caused by this disparity in income distribution,
is directly linked to the popularity of out of the
mainstream presidential candidates like Donald Trump
and Bernie Sanders.
It was a most interesting and informative talk.

A highlight of the year happened on December 9, when
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro
spoke at our meeting.
The meeting took place at the Hyde Park Cappola's Italian
restaurant. A feast of fine Italian food was followed by a
special talk in which a very busy County Executive spoke on
a wide variety of topics affecting every county resident.
He reported that economic growth in the county is on the
upswing, and he claimed, with no bias, that his policies are
largely responsible for that growth.
HERE'S A RUNDOWN OF SOME RECENT EVENTS:
Elaine Hayes, Executive Director of the
Mount Gulian Historic Site,
spoke at the September 30, 2015 meeting.
The site has been in use since the Revolutionary War.
All were thrilled to see Martin dressed in a uniform from
the era, wielding a musket!!
The October 15, 2015 meeting, held at the Italian Center,
featured Dr. Alison Nohara, a neurosurgeon from
Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
In a popular husband and wife event, she spoke on
new procedures to treat stroke patients.
Rabbi Eliazar Langer of the Congregtion Schomre Israel
gave the club an inspiring presentation at the

Julie and David Gorlewski,
Professors of Education at
SUNY New Paltz, discussed the Common
Core controversy. Their talk was
