Minutes of Club Picnic - August 17, 2011

CLUB PICNIC

The second annual Harding Club Picnic was held at Bowdoin Park, Wappingers Falls on Wednesday August 17. A good crowd of members attended (24) and a fine time was had by all. Once again, thanks to those who picked up all the set-up things. Thanks again to our new vice president John Weisman for getting drinks and ice and to Larry (the Galactic Steward) Rosenberg for traveling out to Big W to get the food. Our club banner and hats were on display and thanks again to John Weisman and Rich Levine for doing the work to get the banner and the caps. Please see either John or Rich at the meeting if you did not get your hat at the Picnic. Based on the sense of the attendees this will be a continuing affair.

JCC SHALOM ON GRAND

The board of governors authorized the club to man and pay for ½ a table at the above JCC event on Sept 18. We will share the table with the JWV as we have done previously. What we need are volunteers to help man the table for us from 11 till 6. Please advise Dan if you wish to volunteer. (Phone 845-462-0878 or actordan@verizon.net).

We also need to have something to hand out at the JCC event. Once again as part of our ‘Harding Club future direction/goals/etc.’ ongoing project (See article below) please send the type of info that you would like to see on Harding Club literature or in the new flyer we are developing to me or to John Weisman (jtweisman@gmail.com).

HARDING CLUB FUTURES PROJECT

At the start of the new club year in September, we set up a task force to look at –‘Where is the Harding Club Going in the future and what should be our direction’. Under the leader ship of Richard Levine and Jerry Goldberg this group developed a framework for defining where the club was going and how we could get there. For those who wish to review the results, please contact me and I will e-mail you the information. To
summarize, we needed ongoing work from 2 committees:

1. Recruitment- membership

2. Disbursement   money available for club projects

If you are interested in either chairing or being a part of this effort, please contact me. We need to see if there are any ways to bring the club into the 21st century.
