Minutes of Sept 11, 2013 Meeting

It was good to see the club reassembled on September 11, 2013 after the long summer hiatus. At our inaugural meeting of the new season club members were greeted by the smiling face of Harding Club president  John Weisman , who
was handing out souvenir H.C. pens and baseball caps. Our room upstairs at G&G's quickly filled as members found their seats for dinner. The formal part of our meeting began when Sergeant-at-Arms Martin Hochhauser called us to
order. Our president requested that we all stand respectfully as the club recalled those members who have passed on. Dan Ashley, Lou Newman, Marvin
Klenosky, Bernie Cohen and Gary Mayer read the names out of those who are no longer with us. Being in a contemplative mood, we were well disposed to hear some words of inspiration for our convocation from Rabbi Neal Loevinger, of
Temple Beth-El, The Rabbi spoke on the topic of Jewish tradition, specifically as it pertains to our relationship as Jews to political power. After his talk, the club presented Rabbi Loevinger with with a H.C. cap bearing the stern Old Testament visage of Warren G. Harding, which the Rabbi graciously thanked us
for.  As for club business; President Weisman wished to thank Les
Muldorf, Lou Newman and Harvey Katz for their dedicated effort to facilitate our upcoming 90th Anniversary Weekend Gala at the Mount Airy Resort and Casino.
Our Treasurer, Bernie Cohen was happy to report that the club was solvent. Paul Rashba, on behalf of Good and Welfare, reported that Ted Baker is recuperating
at home after having undergone bypass surgery, and that a get-well card from his brother club members would be appreciated. He also noted that a hearty
mazel-tov was in order to Gary Mayer, who has recently sold his copy business after having been its proprietor for 43 years, and is enjoying retirement.
Finally, Eliot Hudes read the Third Letter for the membership for Stanley (
Stan ) Perlman. Eliot related that Stan moved to the area some years ago and is at present happily retired and happily married with three grown children. I am happy to report that his application for membership was unanimously accepted by
those present. Welcome to the Harding Club Stan! A happy and healthy  New Year to all!
Respectfully Submitted: Peter
