Harding Club Meeting Minutes from DELI NIGHT on June 13, 2012

On Wednesday, June 13th, the Harding Club marked its second annual Kosher Deli Night. Harding Club members and
their wives and guests assembled in the beautifully appointed dining room of the Locust Grove estate. Early comers were treated to an assortment of hot appetizers served up by the dedicated members of the Deli Night committee; who included Lou Newman, Marty Finkelstein, Marvin Klenosky, Monroe Weinstein and Jerry Jacobs, as well as our resident deli mavin and committee chairman; Gary Mayer. Members of the deli committee were assisted as well by Paul Rashba, Ron Lipp, and Jerry Greenberg, who were all kind enough to help out that night. Thanks also to Club Steward, Larry Rosenberg.

At 6:15pm guests were invited to take their seats by Gene Glanzberg who acted as maitre d' that evening. Gene then called the various tables of members and guests up to the sumptuous deli buffet table laden with sliced kosher corned beef, pastrami, sliced beef tongue and sliced hot brisket with gravy, as well as kishka, kasha varnichkes, cole slaw and sour and half-sour pickles, all shipped in from the metro area. Beverages included champagne as well as "Jewish Champagne", i.e. Dr. Brown's
sodas. After everyone was in a deli-induced rapture and couldn't eat another bite, it was time for a cake and cookie Viennese table. The evening was truly a feast without end.

The Harding Club extended its hospitality as well to the widows of H.C. members who have passed on. They included:
Riva Cornell, Jackie Solomon, Marilyn Worona, Estelle Eisner and Sylvia Lerner.

At 8:pm Monroe Weinstein introduced our speaker for the evening , Ken Snodgrass of Locust Grove, who presented a short
overview of the history-laden estate. At the conclusion of ken's talk he was presented with one of Harding Club's coffee mugs emblazoned with the historic image of Warren G. Harding by our own historic President Dan Ashley.

One of Dan's last official acts, as outgoing  president of the Harding club, was to  preside over the event that we had all been breathlessly waiting for - the reading of the winners of the Yearly Raffle. Silence gripped the room as Dan read the names of Jerry Goldberg and Martin Hochhauser; each winning $250. Marvin Klenosky was the winner of the $500 prize. The Grand prize, of $1,000 was won by Ian Tsukroff, who was attending that night with his wife and infant daughter.Hopefully, the prize will be a nice down payment for her college fund. Congratulations to all!

Respectfully Submitted:
Peter Albenda
